OP trapper Joined: Aug 2010 Posts: 9,028 Asheville, NC	How can I feed deer and not squirrels? This topics causes me to daydream a lot. There must be a method. Only solution I can think of is suspending ears of corn via mono fishing line. Hang the ears too high for a squirrel to jump up to, but not too high for deer to attempt to nibble the corn. I could combine this with ground feed and once the ground is clean, the deer can circle the hanging ears. Please share any technique or ideas you have.

trapper Joined: Mar 2012 Posts: 3,202 meadowview, Virginia	For a long time squirrels have been outsmarting the people trying to keep them out of bird feeders. Given that birds can fly and deer cannot, success keeping squirrels out of deer feed sounds unlikely.

trapper Joined: Feb 2014 Posts: 10,222 Ky	Squirrels will eat a fraction compared to the coons. Good luck! But squirrels only eat the heart out of the kernel the deer then eat the rest. Guy I knew that knew my 3rd cousin twice removed uses fly bait and grape soda to control the coon problem.

The last thing any sane person would do is try to attract deer to his property. Its like planting dandelions, don't matter if you do or not they will come.

Somewhere in upper 170s to 180 gross. 7 " deduction just between the brows After comparing note we figure he was regular traveling at lest five miles and crossing a highway during the run. I messed up by not hunting him myself. I didn't think he was but maybe 150 is until I'd already filled my tag. Boys were sick we didn't get him but it was a good lesson for them. Ps we named him Savell in honor of the legendary East Texas trophy hunter Last edited by Yes sir; 06/17/21 03:10 PM.
